On November 21st, the feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Temple, the Catholic Church will celebrate World Day of Cloistered Life. The title for this day is the Latin phase, “Pro Orantibus” Day, which means “for those who pray.” It is an important for all Catholics to appreciate the hidden lives of consecrated religious in cloisters and monasteries.
Many graces come to the world through the prayerful intercession and sacrificial lives of contemplative religious. Their manner of living reflects the life of Christ who sought times of solitude and silence to pray to the Father. The faithful should reach out to the cloistered and contemplative communities in their area through prayer and support.
